Red Velvet

Sooo here's what I would wear to a holiday party in the magical fantasy world where I: a) felt comfortable enough to wear heels, b) lived somewhere a heckuva lot warmer, and c) got invited to parties. It's most likely that these pieces will spend their lives as separates that just happen to match.

For the top, I used the Nettie pattern again. I made it the exact same as my first one, except obviously I cropped it and went for short sleeves.

I've made multiple skirts like these so now I just trace from a previous one, but this tutorial is similar. I love making them because they really take half an hour max from cutting to hemming. Its brilliant.

As you can see in the picture below, the nap is facing different directions on the top and the bottom. I'd like to say that it was because they were sewn a few weeks apart, but honestly I probably wouldn't have noticed if I'd made them on the same day. It barely shows most of the time, so the only real problem I have with it is that when you're petting them (hey, you put on some cozy velvet and try not to), the softness is in two different directions.

My photographer (also known as Mom) is of the opinion that having me hold something in photos would make me not fiddle with my hands and look more relaxed. Hence the tin. And the presents. And who-knows-what next time.
Happy Holidays!
